Day 168 - Wine Country

Today started early again with the noisy rubbish collection at 5....yes Tunbridge Wells trash collection daily not fortnightly!!!!

Then we headed to Pat's Cafe for breakfast, another gem...nothing flash but it just oozed atmosphere and quality.....I love how if you order the house coffee, they just keep topping up your mug!! All of us ate well, with pancakes and waffles.....just gotta do it haven't you!!??  Pat's would fit in perfectly down Camden Road....but if you ever set up shop please leave the squashes behind as Nat was perplexed by them!

We then picked up the silver stunner....our very comfortable Chevrolet Malibu!  The Alamo staff, thank you for your friendly demeanour and please don't be scared to crack into a smile, it really does cost nothing!  At one stage I honestly thought she was going to say "the computer says NO!!"

And off we went, Nat at the helm and Melissa as the sat nav......

We drove over bridges, through a monsoon and tapped into the local R&B station....all a bit in the hood for me....but we all belted out "I'm still, I'm still Jenny from the block" when that classic came on!!

On arrival in Napa we checked into the stunning Best Western, it is so lovely!  But no time to rest and we headed for wine tasting number 1 at the non-commercial Hagafen Cellar, really great experience with a fab host and lots of award winning reds...and as a red loving lush I ended up buying a bottle of the clarinet! Looking forward to cracking that open in Yosemite!

Wine tasting number 2 (Cakebread Cellar) was a bigger enterprise with a more formal tasting setup but equally as enjoyable! Melissa didn't join us and took the "Malibu" and headed out to get us all provisions!  We put in orders for crisps.....

Natalie even tried red wine at Cakebread, she quite enjoyed the Pinot Noir but the others didn't really do it for her....good news for me as I got a little extra 🍷🍷🍷 We had some lovely people on our second tasting, really good fun!

We then met up with Chauffeur Tiffin, who had a grocery bag full of crisps and popcorn - the girl did good!!!  We headed back to Napa.....gone is the R&B radio station - replaced by KAT Country 103 (yes!).  Now back in Napa we are getting ready for the hotels "6pm milk and biscuit" event....the girls are beside themselves with excitement, me...well, it ain't happy hour is it!!!!!??
